Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1,121 Answer, Hints and Clues for Sunday, July 14 Game
Online puzzle game Wordle is as popular as ever, and as always there could be a lot of people struggling with today’s answer.
Wordle, which requires users to guess a five-letter word, exploded in popularity in a relatively short amount of time. In October 2021 the game created by Welsh-born, New York-based software engineer Josh Wardle had only 90 users. By January 2022, it had 300,000 daily users, with millions of people now playing the brain teaser every day.
Wardle eventually sold the game to The New York Times for an undiclosed seven-figure sum.
“There is a reason that every word is five letters long and that you are allowed six attempts to guess it,” Wardle told Newsweek in 2022. “That might seem arbitrary but, with the prototype version, I tested different word lengths and experimented with the number of tries that players were allowed.
“Through that process of refinement, I figured out that five letters and six tries was the ideal sweet spot. It’s just limited enough to feel challenging and to make you think, but most of the time people still manage to solve it. So, you feel a real sense of accomplishment.”
Each individual may have their own strategy for how to solve the word puzzle. Some may like to guess a five-letter word with as many vowels as possible straight away to help narrow down the options. Others may pick words with lots of commonly used consonants.
