Fidesz-KDNP MEPs will only support commissioner candidates who ‘fully respect national sovereignty’
When the European Parliament started hearing European Commissioner candidates, the delegation said they would attend all hearings and query the candidates.
The delegation of ruling Fidesz and Christian Democrat (KDNP) MEPs will only support commissioner candidates who “fully respect national sovereignty and serve to bring about the fundamental change demanded by Europeans”.
When the European Parliament started hearing European Commissioner candidates, the delegation said they would attend all hearings and query the candidates.
“As members of the Patriots for Europe party family, we will represent the stance expressed by European citizens at the EP elections that Europe needs fundamental change,” the statement said.
“Europe is in trouble”, with the escalation of the war in Ukraine threatening “unforeseeable dangers”, as the EU “does not want to put a stop to migration”, and faces serious challenges in competitiveness, the statement said.
The MEPs expect from future commissioners that they “do not follow the anti-democratic practice of the left-liberal majority” and that they step up against its isolationist policies, the statement said.
“Candidates will have to guarantee that they will handle member states as partners rather than opponents and that they will fully respect national sovereignty,” the statement said.
