Astros Legend Predicted To Betray Houston For $120-Plus Million Free Agency Deal

The Houston Astros dominated a majority of the 2010s because of their strong core of talent. This talent has slowly left town, opting for new teams when they hit free agency. The next core piece of the roster that Houston could lose is the longtime third baseman Alex Bregman.
Bregman has played 1,111 games in an Astros uniform while recording nearly 40 WAR and slugging 191 home runs. He’s won a Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, and two World Series championships in his nine-year career.
One team that keeps finding their name connected to Bregman is the Detroit Tigers and it makes a lot of sense.
FanSided’s Nick Villano projected the Tigers to sign Bregman this offseason, stealing him away from the Astros. Spotrac projects Bregman to sign a four-year, $119 million deal, but the expectation is he’s looking for more money than that.

“The Tigers lived off their youth, and it drove them to another level. They ended up winning enough games to make the playoffs, and they even made it to Game 5 of the ALDS after sweeping the Astros in the Wild Card round,” Villano wrote. “Bregman picking the Tigers is him betting on the youth of this team to be the next version of the Astros. He could be the star as the rest of the team develops further.”
Bregman to the Tigers makes as much sense as almost any free agency fit this winter. The only issue would be, as Villano mentions, Bregman betting on the youth of the Tigers.
Houston will likely send a very hefty offer to Bregman, but if the Tigers can offer a bit more, Detroit has a chance to steal the franchise legend from Houston.
