Hankó: Hungarian higher education is ‘cool’ and provides success
Applications to higher education were at a record high in the past decade and courses are becoming increasingly diverse, with 17 new MA courses launched this year alone.
Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation, said Hungarian higher education is “cool”, providing success, competitiveness, career and experiences.
In an effort to help young people to have a vision of the future, the government had reformed higher education and completed a “competitiveness turnaround” in the sector, Minister Hankó said at the opening event of the Educatio expo in Budapest on Thursday. “Our aim is to have a Hungarian university among the top 100 institutions in the world.”
The developments are strengthening the Hungarian economy, and “making our everyday life better”, Minister Hankó said.
Applications to higher education were at a record high in the past decade and courses are becoming increasingly diverse, with 17 new MA courses launched this year alone, he said. One Hungarian university is among the top 1 percent in the world, and 12 are listed in the top 2 percent, he added.
The government’s 100 billion forint (EUR 240.9m) scholarship scheme is helping 260,000 students, he added. Meanwhile, the Pannonia programme is offering them access to the best universities of the world, he added.
