Two people – a 41-year-old man and a 2-year-old Moroccan boy – have died in a stabbing attack in a park in the Bavarian city of Aschaffenburg, Bild reported on Wednesday. A 28-year-old Afghan man was taken into custody as a suspect.
The incident took place in the city center’s City Park, where the Afghan man attacked a group of kindergarten children. It later emerged that the victims included a 2-year-old child and, according to information, the 41-year-old caretaker who was trying to protect him.
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann pointed out that the suspected perpetrator had not been found to have an Islamist motive.
“At the moment, the suspicion is strongly leaning towards a mental illness,” he said, adding that the man’s accommodation had been found to contain the corresponding medication. This was also reported by Bild, while Spiegel reported that the perpetrator is Enamullah O. and lives in an asylum accommodation.
The Bavarian Interior Minister also said that the 28-year-old had already been reported to the authorities on three previous occasions for violent acts, for which he had been referred for psychiatric treatment, reports Hirado.hu. According to the latest figures, three other people were seriously injured in the stabbing, including a 2-year-old Syrian girl.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said of the attack: “I am tired of seeing such acts of violence here every few weeks. By perpetrators who actually came to us to find protection here. Misunderstood tolerance is completely inappropriate. The authorities must work urgently to clarify why the attacker was still in Germany. The findings must be followed immediately – talking is not enough.” In an X-press statement, Scholz spoke of an “unbelievable act of terror.”

Balázs Hidvéghi, Deputy Minister at the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister, pointed out on X, that now that early elections are coming in Germany, the Chancellor has had enough of terrorist acts committed by illegal migrants.
So, the failed German chancellor has had enough of terrorist acts committed by illegal migrants just one month before the early election. Exactly how many lives did it take for this, Mr. @Bundeskanzler? Shame! pic.twitter.com/nsocfoNTle

Tristan Azbej, the state secretary for persecuted Christians, reacted to the incident on his Facebook page. He wrote: “Pray for the victims and their families,” adding that violence must be prevented.
Fidesz MEP András László described the event as “horrific,” adding that it was a direct consequence of the failed pro-migration policy in the EU.
