‘Connections’ January 31: Hints and Answers for Puzzle #600
Happy Friday, Connections fans! Newsweek has tips to help you beat today’s puzzle.
In June 2023, Connections was launched by The New York Times. Now, it’s the newspaper’s second most popular word game behind Wordle.
Wyna Liu, the NYT crossword editor who helped develop the brainteaser, previously revealed to Newsweek readers her best advice to conquer it.
“Wait as long as you can before guessing,” she shared, adding that she usually doesn’t know “where a board is going to go.”
“It really does [take] a long time to fudge things and try different angles.”
Keep scrolling for Newsweek‘s hints for game #600. Spoiler alert: The answers will also be revealed at the end of this article.

How to Play ‘Connections’
If you’ve never played Connections before, it’s pretty easy to get the hang of. Players are given 16 words in a grid format that they must split into four groups of four based on a common theme. From there, they must be placed into categories. These categories are color coded and range in difficulty from yellow to green to blue to purple. While yellow is considered the easiest category, purple is considered the most difficult.
For example, in Thursday’s puzzle, the words “beer,” “dip,” “pizza” and “wings” were associated with the category “game day fare.” This was a green category.
While there’s no time limit to solve the puzzle, players only get four guesses before the answers are revealed.
Feeling stuck? Try clicking the “Shuffle” button. This rearranges the words, which may just give your brain the reset it needs.
