63-year-old man found bound, deceased in basement after allegedly messaging suspect on dating app

CHICAGO (TCN) — Two men face charges in connection with the death of a 63-year-old man found tied up in his basement.

Chicago Police arrested 29-year-old Jefferson Ubilla-Delgado on Jan. 29 and 21-year-old Geiderwuin Bello Morales on Jan. 30 on charges of murder and robbery in connection with the death of a man, identified by WBBM-TV as George Levin.

Levin’s sister reportedly discovered her brother bound in the basement apartment of their home. His arms had reportedly been duct taped, and his legs were tied with an extension cord. According to WGN-TV, he was partially naked with a sock placed in his mouth.

Levin had reportedly been severely assaulted. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased. An autopsy later revealed Levin died of multiple injuries, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators determined the suspects allegedly beat Levin and then robbed him.

According to a police report reviewed by WBBM, some of Levin’s belongings were gone. Authorities reportedly located one of the suspects using a license plate of a vehicle leaving the scene.

Ubilla-Delgado and Morales were scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on Feb. 1. Prosecutors argued that surveillance footage shows the suspects at a vape shop and gas station, where they attempted to use Levin’s debit card. The pair also allegedly spent over $4,000 on Amazon.

According to WGN, the attorneys for Ubilla-Delgado and Morales said there is no evidence to prove what had occurred in Levin’s basement. They also reportedly said the suspects had Levin’s phone as a part of payment for sex. Levin and Morales had allegedly communicated via a dating app before the victim’s death.
