Suspect Arrested in Shocking Death of Reporter Covering Super Bowl LIX

Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old sports reporter and anchor for Telemundo Kansas City, tragically passed away while on assignment covering Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
His body was found in his hotel room at the Comfort Suites in Kenner, Louisiana, on February 5. A woman named Danette Colbert, 48, has been arrested in connection with the case, per The Big Lead.
The Kenner Police Department’s investigation revealed that Colbert entered Manzano’s hotel room early on the morning of February 5, and later left alone.
Hotel security footage confirmed this, and further evidence showed Colbert using Manzano’s credit card at various stores in the New Orleans area. Authorities also found Manzano’s missing cell phone and credit card at Colbert’s residence in Slidell.
Colbert is facing charges related to property crimes, including fraud and theft.
“Right now, the only crimes we have are property crimes,” said Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley. “However, further evidence could lead to upgraded charges.” Colbert has a criminal history involving drugging men, theft, and fraudulent use of credit cards.

Despite the arrest, the cause of Manzano’s death has not yet been determined, and police are continuing to investigate.
“We are cooperating with authorities as they investigate this tragic incident,” Telemundo Kansas City said in a statement. “Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work.”
Manzano’s death is particularly devastating considering the recent loss of his wife, Ashleigh Boyd, who was killed in a car crash in April 2024. The couple leaves behind their young daughter, Eleanor.

Manzano had been with Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports, where he was recognized for his professionalism and dedication to sports journalism.
“Adan was a true professional and a rising star, who exemplified excellence in his work,” the station said in a statement. “We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community.”
The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with additional information to come forward.
