Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s Social Media Activity Ignites Yankees Rumors
The Toronto Blue Jays failed to reach an extension with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. before his self-imposed deadline. He will become a free agent next winter and could finally land with a contender. Guerrero may have hinted at his desired team through his social media activity.
Guerrero liked an Instagram post of himself in a Yankees jersey. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman noted that the Yankees are among the early favorites for Guerrero.
“(Very) early favorites to land Vlad Jr. this winter: 1. Red Sox 2. Mets (assuming Pete opts out) 3. Yankees,” Heyman wrote on X.

Guerrero recently shared what he is looking for in his next team. When asked about what he wants out of his free agency, Guerrero noted he wants to be with a winning organization, according to MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson.
“Winning team. That’s what I’ll be looking for in free agency,” Guerrero told Matheson. “As you guys know, my dad played a lot of years. He never won a World Series. My personal goal is to win a World Series and give the ring to my dad. That’s all I’m looking for.”
The Yankees are one of the most historic organizations in Major League Baseball. They just won the American League and Paul Goldschmidt will be a free agent after the season, meaning the Yankees will have an opening at first base. They missed out on signing Juan Soto, but they could give Guerrero a lucrative deal with the money they saved.
