The road trip hasn’t fared well for the Knicks, who, after losing a home matchup to the Golden State Warriors, made the trip West and proceeded to lose games against the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. The Knicks are likely to be without star point guard Jalen Brunson, who sprained his ankle late in the loss to the Lakers. Against the Clippers, it was Miles McBride who handled the point guard duties, where he shot just 2-for-13 for seven points.
The Kings have found their footing a bit since the All-Star break, winning five of eight games. Their most recent game ended in a one-point loss in overtime to the Los Angeles Clippers, despite getting 31 points and 10 assists from DeMar DeRozan and 30 points and seven rebounds from Zach LaVine. Since the trade of De’Aaron Fox, the Kings have been looking to regain their offensive spark, and the combination of DeRozan and LaVine has done the trick.
This will be the second and final matchup for the Knicks and Kings, with New York winning 143-120 on their home court in late January.
