While we support industrial cooperation and joint programs between Member States, we oppose any federalist takeover by the European Commission that undermines national sovereignty, said Kinga Gál, Vice-President of Patriots for Europe, in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
At a joint press conference with Jordan Bardella, President of the Patriots for Europe group in the European Parliament, Kinga Gál stressed that the issue of strengthening the EU’s defense capabilities cannot be linked to further military assistance to Ukraine, and that the two issues should remain separate and independent. According to the Fidesz MEP, the European Commission’s proposals on the ReArm Europe plan raise problems.
The question is whether these proposals will bring peace closer or not, and we have serious doubts about that,”
she pointed out.
Over the past years, the @EU_Commission has made a series of bad decisions. They made mistakes regarding the war, migration, the Green Deal, and now the Rearm Europe proposal also raises many problems.

Kinga Gál said that in recent years the European Commission has made “a series of failed decisions” on war, migration and the Green Deal. The latter has caused serious damage to the European economy and should be fully reviewed, she underlined. In her view, excessive green emissions rules and ideologically driven policies have destroyed industry, agriculture and farmers, and have put small and medium-sized enterprises in a difficult situation.
“Rising energy prices are hitting our households and businesses hard. Given the current situation of the automotive industry, the survival of a strategic sector that provides jobs and prosperity for millions of citizens is at stake. The European Commission is fully responsible for the difficulties our manufacturers are facing,” she pointed out.
The Patriots suggest that in order to help the automotive industry, meaningful changes are needed, such as the abolition of the CO2 fleet-based penalty mechanism and the ETS2 scheme, and to ensure that European industry does not pay excessive energy prices.
In this context, she said, the Patriots had proposed to have a resolution adopted in plenary, but the EPP (European People’s Party) and other left-wing groups postponed the decision until April.
The @EU_Commission green lobby scandal was just the tip of the iceberg. Kinga Gál also said that a funding scandal had emerged in connection with the Green Deal, revealing that the European Commission had used taxpayers’ money to fund NGOs through secret contracts to promote its own green agenda. “This scandal is just the tip of the iceberg. An increasing amount of serious information is coming to light that the European Commission is funding hundreds of political activist groups across Europe to push its own policies, extremist ideologies, and often to attack sovereigntist governments,” she said.
The MEP pointed out that
the Patriots demand full transparency on the funding of NGOs and have submitted more than 80 public interest requests to the European Commission in recent weeks.
On migration, she said that the serious consequences of the EU’s pro-immigration policy can be seen every day in Europe: shootings and terrorist attacks are becoming more frequent on the streets of European cities, that are the result of the current migration policy.
The Commission’s proposal to tighten up the Returns Directive is, in her view, a smear on the surface and an attempt to put a new mask on the problem, but it does not seek to solve the problem itself. She stressed that the declaration on migration adopted at the Patriots for Europe MEPs’ external meeting in Budapest sets out the changes needed in this area. The first step is to prevent all forms of immigration into the territory of the Member States, she explained, adding that this requires stronger border protection and zero tolerance of illegal entry.
The Patriots’ position is that all migrants illegally in the EU should be returned without exception and that return should be automatic and enforceable in all EU countries.
In addition, illegal migrants should be automatically detained and external return centers should be set up to make the process more efficient, and a tightening of entry bans is also essential, she said.
A revision of the return directive cannot represent a comprehensive solution to the EU’s faulty migration policy. We need a complete overhaul of the Pact on Migration and Asylum. @PatriotsEP have outlined the key elements for a stricter migration policy. This is the only way… pic.twitter.com/88Dxue0xN0

Jordan Bardella told the press conference that the US decision to review its engagement with Europe and Ukraine should not be condemned, but acknowledged and acted upon.
Europe and its nations are at a crossroads and face a vital challenge: preserve their independence and build peace, or perish in an uncertain world,”
he said.
He noted that Ukraine’s membership of NATO would increase geopolitical tensions, while its accession to the EU would cause economic destabilization, especially in agriculture. Security agreements should protect Ukraine without harming the interests of our nations, he stressed.
