Actor who appeared on ‘Law & Order’ convicted of killing man after he was kicked out of party
QUEENS, N.Y. (TCN) — An actor who has appeared on multiple TV shows has been convicted of fatally shooting a man months after being kicked out of the victim’s birthday party.
The Queens County District Attorney’s Office announced March 10 that a jury found Isaiah Stokes guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of Tyrone Jones. Stokes is set to be sentenced on March 21 and faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
According to prosecutors, in October 2020, Jones and Stokes met at the victim’s birthday party at a club. The two were reportedly involved in an altercation because of “Stokes’ inappropriate behavior toward female party guests.” Jones asked Stokes to leave, but he refused, and a physical fight ensued with other party guests. Stokes was injured during the incident.
On or around Jan. 29, 2021, Stokes reportedly installed a GPS tracking device on Jones’ car. On Feb. 7, 2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Stokes tracked Jones down, walked toward him as he was parked in his Jeep, and fired his gun 11 times. Jones was reportedly waiting for a friend to have lunch at the time. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his head and chest and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
District Attorney Melinda Katz said the shooting was a “calculated murder” and that Stokes was “intent on revenge” after the birthday party altercation.
Following the shooting, Stokes reportedly drove back to his home and then returned the vehicle to a rental facility in New Jersey on Feb. 16, 2021.
Authorities arrested Stokes on July 16, 2021, and searched his home. Investigators discovered documents in the defendant’s apartment that matched the GPS tracking device on Jones’ vehicle, according to prosecutors.
Per his IMDb page, Stokes has worked on numerous shows, including “Law & Order,” “Blue Bloods,” “The Americans,” and “Boardwalk Empire.”
