FM: New era in US-Hungary relations
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said a new era defined by mutual respect and the pursuit of mutual benefits is underway in US-Hungary relations.
After a meeting with US embassy charge d’affaires, Robert Palladino, on Monday, the foreign minister said on Facebook that Hungary greatly appreciates the commitment of the new US president to peace.
“If Donald Trump can’t broker peace in Ukraine, no one can,” he wrote, adding that Hungary fully supports Trump’s endeavors.
At the same time, “we find it outrageous that Brussels is obstructing their success,” he added.
The minister pointed to potential boons in bilateral economic, investment and energy cooperation, adding that joint partnerships were ongoing.
He called his talks with Palladino “excellent”, underlining that “mutual respect once again defines our relationship with the US Embassy in Budapest.”
