Russell Wilson Makes Bold Prediction After Officially Signing With Giants
The quarterback carousel has nearly concluded, with the remaining good option at the position being Aaron Rodgers. One veteran quarterback on the carousel who signed with a new team was Russell Wilson.
Wilson signed with the New York Giants on a one-year deal for big money, showcasing how he is the short-term quarterback for the team. It isn’t guaranteed he will start, but it seems likely.

At his introductory press conference after officially signing with the team, he attempted to quell any doubts, predicting he will start next season.
Wilson told reporters, “I expect to be the starter.”
After an up-and-down year with the Steelers last year, the 36-year-old quarterback is getting up there in age, meaning he could fall out of favor as a starting quarterback relatively soon.
However, he clearly has the confidence to step in and immediately lead the Giants, hopefully bookmarking a much improved season on their 3-14 record last year.
The team did also sign fellow veteran quarterback Jameis Winston, but Wilson is still expecting to be QB1 by the time the regular season starts in 2025.
The Giants could also add a quarterback with the No. 3 pick in the draft depending on how the board falls, but it seems more likely they had the best player available, which could cap off a nice offseason for the team.

Given Wilson just signed with the team and there is still plenty of time until the start of the season, it is certainly bold to say you should be the starter. However, based on his contract and assumed discussions with the team, Wilson seems confident that he will lead the offense.
The Giants have a chance to be much improved next season with Wilson under center, but they do have to contest with a difficult NFC East division.
The reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles did get worse, but they are still one of the top teams in the league. The Commanders are much improved with a chance to challenge the Eagles for the NFC East crown.
The Dallas Cowboys are looking worse on paper than last year, which at least leaves a third-place finish well on the table for the Giants.
It will be interesting to see next season if Wilson can lead the team to playoff contention while throwing the ball to Malik Nabers and potentially Travis Hunter. The team needs a great draft if they want to be taken seriously, but for now, their steady improvements serve as a solid foundation for a much-improved record.
