Sandy Alcántara Projected To Net Multiple Top-100 Prospects In Huge Trade
The Miami Marlins have the top trade chip of the entire season on their roster this year, and it’s only a matter of time before they find a trade for him. Of course, I’m talking about the Marlins ace Sandy Alcántara.
The righty missed all of last season with an elbow injury, but he’s looked dominant since returning to the bump this spring. The expectation around the league is the Marlins will trade him to a contender before the trade deadline.
Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter recently predicted the Marlins would land multiple top 100 prospects when they eventually trade Alcántara.

“When Alcantara landed on the injured list in 2023, he missed a chance to pitch in the playoffs,” Reuter wrote. “A year later, the Marlins roster has been stripped to the studs, and it feels like only a matter of time before he is traded.
“With a $17.3 million salary for next season and a $21 million club option in 2027, he stands as a bargain in a market where Alex Cobb got a one-year, $15 million deal. It might take a package of multiple Top 100 prospects to be the team that successfully pries him loose this summer.”
There are a lot of teams in the league that would love to add Alcántara to their roster, but there aren’t a lot of teams that could afford to part ways with multiple top 100 prospects.
This prediction doesn’t feel outlandish at all. The Marlins have an ace with multiple more years of team control at an affordable price. That makes him one of the hottest commodities on the market.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a team like the Boston Red Sox or Detroit Tigers part ways with multiple top prospects to bring Alcántara to their city.
