Hysterics at What Owners Find Dog Doing When They Get Home
A dog has perfected the art of relaxation: relaxing on the couch while watching TV.
Molly the golden retriever lives in Australia with her owners and has gone viral after they uploaded a video showing how she greeted them when they got home from a beach trip.
In a clip to her dedicated TikTok account, @princessmollymyla, her owners prepare to enter the front door, but first record Molly through the window.
And the retriever is sitting up like a human—her front paw even splayed across the armrest of the couch—watching television.
As they enter the house, with the door and keys making noise that a dog’s ears would easily be able to pick up, Molly doesn’t jump from her position and run to them.
Instead, while her tail starts wagging to show her happiness that they’ve returned, she stays in her human-like position, paw on the rest, back legs stretched in front of her.
And Molly does make eye contact with her owners, but still keeps flicking back to look at the TV, where an Australian Tennis match was showing.
Her owner bursts out laughing, asking: “What are you doing in here?”
It’s far from the first time Molly has been interrupted sitting in the same way, as her owners even have a term for it: sitting in her truck.
Other videos on their TikTok account show Molly stretching out with her paw on the armrest, watching TV with her owners, from crime investigation shows, football games, and even podcasts.
In the most recent viral video, they wrote in a caption, from Molly’s perspective: “Lucky for me, my mum and dad leave the TV on for me—all day—every day—so I can sit in my truck and relax.
“Here’s a vid that mum took of me when they caught me relaxing watching the tennis after they spent the day at the beach and left me at home.”
TikTok users loved it, awarding the video more than 193,000 views, as one declared it “the best thing I’ve ever seen.”
“Well you two are home early,” another laughed, as one lamented: “No one can just relax on the couch watching the game without facing judgment.”
“She said yall could’ve stayed where yall were at a lil longer,” another joked, while one described Molly as being “parked up like [she] pays the rent.”

Dogs’ eyes are different from human eyes, and they see things on TV differently, according to PetMD. However some dogs do enjoy watching TV, fascinated by the motion or sounds coming from the screen.
Leaving the TV on for your pet while you’re not there can help stimulate their senses enough to help time pass more quickly until you return, however owners should be sure to give the dog enough space to leave the TV room if it bothers them, by keeping a door open or not keeping them enclosed in a crate.
