Rangers Predicted To Acquire $6 Million Pitcher In Blockbuster Trade

The Texas Rangers have a loaded lineup of stars this season. When everybody finds their stride this season, they’re going to be one of the more dangerous offenses in baseball.
The Rangers have a pretty solid starting rotation, too. But they need to add a closer at some point this season. They lost Kirby Yates in free agency and didn’t do much to replace him.
Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller recently listed the Rangers as the “ideal landing spot” in a blockbuster trade for Washington Nationals reliever Kyle Finnegan.

“Save for an implosion against Boston on Opening Day, Luke Jackson has been more than serviceable thus far for Texas, logging 7.2 scoreless innings over his last eight appearances,” Miller wrote. “There’s little question, however, that the Rangers are most likely to be that aforementioned desperate contender a few months from now, as Jackson hadn’t saved a game since 2019 and surely has a short leash in what promises to be a tight AL West race.”
Finnegan would be a huge upgrade to Texas’ bullpen. The Rangers don’t have a solidified closer whom they could turn to in the ninth inning of a postseason game at this point.
If the Rangers were to add Finnegan, they would have a solid option as a closer.
In 9 2/3 innings this season, Finnegan has recorded eight saves and holds a 1.86 ERA. He’s been dominant nearly every time out there.
But the Nationals might not be in the market to trade him. Though they’re not a powerhouse, they have a strong young core that could keep them in a potential postseason race in July.
