Blue Jays Cut Ties With Bo Bichette in Blockbuster Trade Proposal With NL Squad

The Toronto Blue Jays are 22-23, behind the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees in the American League East. They still have plenty of time to get on a roll and avoid becoming sellers at the reader deadline. However, if they cannot establish themselves as contenders, they could become sellers at the trade deadline.

If the Blue Jays become sellers, Bo Bichette will be a hot name around the trade deadline. He will be a free agent after the season, and the team may not be able to give him the contract he will be seeking. He is currently playing on a three-year $33 million extension, but could earn a $200 million deal in free agency.

While many bona fide contenders could use Bichette, AthlonSports’ Dave Gasper suggested the Milwaukee Brewers could trade for Bichette.

“This would be a dream target for the Brewers to get to spark their offense, but they’ll have to wait a little bit longer for it to potentially become a reality,” wrote Gasper. “The Blue Jays are going for it in Bichette’s last year and they’ve signed Vlad Guerrero Jr to an extension. The front office there needs to see success on the field and they won’t trade Bichette unless they’re out of the hunt.”

The Brewers’ offense has been terrible as of late. They have fallen to 21-25 and could be sellers themselves near the deadline. However, manager Pat Murphy has remained adamant that he believes in his group and they can turn things around.

Bichette could give their offense a huge boost and would be an affordable rental for the team. The Blue Jays, as much as they would like, may not be able to keep him after committing $500 million to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
