FM: Hungary will vote against extending EU’s exemption for Ukrainian farm products
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said Hungary will vote against extending the European Union’s exemption for Ukrainian farm products from quotas and duties when they expire on June 5.
Speaking in Antalya on Thursday, Minister Szijjártó warned that Ukraine would flood the EU’s farm markets, including Hungary’s, with low-quality, GMO food. Those products pose a risk to health and a threat to the livelihoods of local farmers, he added.
“It is clear this measure serves the interests of Ukraine, not Europe. That must change,” Minister Szijjártó said.
