Hungarian MEP Condemns European Parliament Debate on Transparency Bill as Political Attack

The European Parliament has reached a new low in its witch hunt against our country by putting Hungary on its agenda because of a draft law on transparency in public life, but “we will not give in: we will defend Hungarian interests and we will defend the future of Europe,” said András László MEP, in Brussels on Wednesday.
Speaking to Hungarian journalists, László András recalled that at the European Parliament’s plenary session in Brussels, the European People’s Party, as an ally of the Tisza Party, the Socialists, as allies of the Democratic Coalition (DK), and the Greens, who, he said, are allies of Gergely Karácsony (Mayor of Budapest), had submitted an extraordinary request to include Hungary on the agenda of the EP plenary session due to the draft law on transparency in public life.
“Those who requested the debate wanted to use a draft law that has not even been adopted by the Hungarian parliament to launch a political attack against Hungary. They do not even know what the actual impact of this will be or what the final text will be”, he pointed out.

he said.
He added that in 2022, ”very direct” political interference in the Hungarian elections had been uncovered. The law aims to put an end to this foreign interference. The beneficiaries of the 2022 interference were precisely those parties and politicians whose European allies put Wednesday’s debate on the agenda, he pointed out.

he said.
He also reminded that the same network, which includes the Vienna-registered company Datadat, renamed AVSF, which illegally interfered in the Hungarian elections in 2022, has now appeared in Poland ahead of the first round of the Polish presidential election. So, as he pointed out, the network that was active in Hungary in 2022 is still operating.The network, whose sources are now being “cut off” from America, wants to be paid from EU funds by the European Union and the majority of the European Parliament because, as he pointed out, they fear that EU money intended for political actions will not reach these organizations.
“We do not want to expose foreign interference just after the elections, we want to prevent foreign money intended for political activism from reaching its destination before the elections,” András László added in his statement.
