Several flights had to be canceled at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport due to the escalating situation in the Middle East, Mandiner reported. The attacks could last for days or even weeks.
Israel and Iran closed their airspace to civilian aircraft early Friday morning after the Jewish state launched an attack against Iran. Israel closed Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv for an indefinite period until further notice. Authorities asked passengers traveling from Israel to other countries not to travel to the airport and to check with their airlines for further information. Iran also closed Tehran’s international airport.

The conflict has also affected several flights to Budapest,
according to Budflyer. A Qatar Airways Airbus A320 flying to Budapest was forced to land in Cairo, while El Al and Wizz Air flights to the Middle East were canceled.
In response to the recent Israeli air strikes on Iran, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó emphasized that Hungary has been in contact with its embassies in both Tel Aviv and Tehran and confirmed that Hungarian staff are safe, adding that “we have swiftly implemented the necessary and customary security protocols.” Consular services remain operational in both countries, and Szijjártó urged Hungarian citizens currently in Israel or Iran to reach out to the embassies if they require assistance.

he noted, highlighting that a total of 14 Hungarian citizens in Iran and 787 in Israel have registered for consular protection.
Due to both Iran and Israel closing their airspace to civilian flights, travel to and from the region is currently impossible. “Since further drone and missile activity in the region cannot be ruled out, civil aviation throughout the region may be disrupted,” Szijjártó warned, advising caution for those planning to travel there in the coming days. He assured the public that Hungary is monitoring the situation closely and “will take further measures if necessary,” reiterating that the embassies and consular services remain open for citizens in need.
