Team USA opened the tournament with a dominant 5-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, followed by a narrow 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, and then a 2-1 win against Haiti to top their group.

In the win over Haiti, the U.S. got on the board early with a 10th-minute goal from PSV winger Malik Tillman, and sealed the result with a 75th-minute strike by Charlotte FC forward Patrick Agyemang, securing all three points and a spot in the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica defeated Suriname 4-3 to open up their 2025 Gold Cup campaign, picking up a 2-1 win over, and then drew 0-0 with mighty Mexico to close their group stage. In the win over Suriname, Costa Rica was led by Alonso Martinez, Josimar Alcocer, and Manfred Ugalde, who not only scored two goals in the win but also scored the winner 13 minutes into second-half stoppage time from the penalty spot.
