Zsófia Keresztély, a student at Szent István High School in Budapest, and Dóra Horváth, a student at the SZC Baksa Kálmán Bilingual High School in Győr, won gold, while Júlia Baran, a student at the Fazekas Mihály Secondary School in Debrecen, and Vivien Varga, a student at the Radnóti Miklós Experimental Grammar School in Szeged, won silver medals.

The Hungarian students prepared for EGOI 2025 as part of the John von Neumann Computer Society‘s talent development program, in collaboration with the ELTE Faculty of Informatics and with the support of the National Talent Program. The team leaders were Ágnes Erdősné Németh and Tekla Tóth.

The press release quoted Ágnes Erdősné Németh, chair of the John von Neumann Computer Society’s talent development department, who expressed her hope that

this year’s success will contribute to more women choosing a career in IT and dispel the false stereotype that IT is a male profession.”

Students from 53 countries around the world, from the United States to Australia, participated in person in the competition in Bonn, while students from seven other countries (including Malaysia and Algeria) joined the competition online.
