2 Braves Pitchers Linked To Potential Trade Ahead Of Deadline, Per Report

The Atlanta Braves are in quite a tough situation this year. They have a talented roster with a slew of stars, but they’ve completely failed to live up to preseason expectations.

Because of this, the Braves will likely be among the most aggressive sellers in baseball at the trade deadline. Atlanta has multiple star players it could move in the coming weeks. If the front office plays its cards right, it should be able to bring in a lot of talented prospects.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale recently reported that Braves relievers Raisel Iglesias and Pierce Johnson will be available in a trade ahead of the upcoming deadline.

“Atlanta is expected to listen to trade offers for second baseman Ozzie Albies, center fielder Michael Harris and catcher Sean Murphy, but not until this winter,” Nightengale wrote. “They are letting teams know that DH Marcell Ozuna, closer Raisel Iglesias and reliever Pierce Johnson are all available. Ozuna, who has 10-and-5 rights, can veto any trade.”

These two pitchers make perfect sense as trade chips for the Braves.

Johnson is having a great year for Atlanta and would net a solid return on the trade market. He has a $7 million club option on his contract for next season, which should drive his trade value up a bit.

Iglesias is in the middle of a tough season that isn’t quite the norm for the righty. He’s struggled quite a bit, but with his contract expiring at the end of the year, the Braves would be smart to move him.

Both players should receive a lot of interest in the coming two weeks. Atlanta doesn’t have any excuses not to move these players in trades to net a few solid prospects this season.
