Eagles Standout Reacts to AJ Brown’s Massive Comments

Celebration time is over for Cooper DeJean. The Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive back had an impressive rookie season, which concluded with a Super Bowl victory, but the pressure is now on for him to take on a bigger role and live up to the hype he generated by the end of his first season.

DeJean has the full support of his fan base, as well as his coaches and teammates. This week, one of DeJean’s most notable teammates placed a major goal in front of the sophomore defensive back.

AJ Brown wants to see DeJean become an All-Pro.

“I joke around with Coop all the time. I call him All-Pro Coop… APC,” Brown said on Wednesday. “It’s going to be a year for him. I’m not trying to put pressure on him, but I tell him all the time, I’m going to make you All-Pro. That starts in camp each and every day.”

Every day, DeJean faces some of the toughest wide receivers in the NFL. Brown has taken a liking to the former second-round pick, challenging him to reach heights that only a few players at his position reach every year.

“I thought he was crazy,” DeJean said, regarding Brown’s comments. “When he explained it to me, he’s trying to speak it into existence for me. That gives me something to work towards and come out and try and prove every single day out here.”

Since entering the NFL in 2019, AJ Brown has cracked 1,000 yards in all but one of his six seasons. With the Eagles, he’s been an All-Pro on multiple occasions, exceeding 4,000 yards and scoring 15 touchdowns in three years.

Not many players on defense can slow down Brown. It’s unclear if DeJean has cracked the code, but either way, he’s getting a difficult challenge every time he lines up against No. 11 at practice. In the long run, that could be major on game day.

“He’s going to be one that pushes me every single day to make sure that I’m playing at a high level, no matter the day, to work towards that, which is pretty cool coming from a guy who has been All-Pro multiple times,” DeJean added.

Last season, DeJean appeared in 16 games for the Eagles as a rookie. Eventually, he became a starter, collecting nine starts. He totaled 51 tackles, three of which, were for a loss. DeJean broke up six passes and recovered three fumbles, but he didn’t have any interceptions during the regular season. He saved the first one for a special occasion.

DeJean was involved in one of the biggest plays of the season for the Eagles. He picked off Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LIX and ran it back for a score. He finished the postseason run with 18 tackles, four pass deflections, and one interception.

This year, DeJean will take on a bigger role from the jump.
