Although they’ve dropped four out of five games, the Mercury still find themselves in a prime position to secure home court advantage in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. They’ll need to win games like these, however, against teams just behind them in the standings. In their last game, Phoenix dropped a high-scoring affair to the Indiana Fever 107-101. Alyssa Thomas put on a show, scoring 32 points to go with 15 rebounds and seven assists in the loss.
With just 4.5 games separating the No. 2 seed and missing the playoffs altogether, the Dream will need to continue their positive momentum, as winners in three of their last four games. Most recently, the Dream pulled out a 3-point win against the Dallas Wings, with Naz Hillmon leading the team in scoring off the bench (21). Allisha Gray added 15 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in the win.
The Dream defeated the Mercury 90-79 in their last matchup on July 23rd.
