Jameis Winston Goes Viral for Dancing at NY Giants Practice
The positive energy was flowing at New York Giants practice on Saturday, and the backup quarterback Jameis Winston was feeling the vibe.
If there is one thing Winston has mastered since he reached stardom, it’s going viral for simply being himself. On Saturday, a video of Winston doing Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ dance at the Giants’ recent training camp session has made its rounds on social media.
Giants fans seem to enjoy seeing the veteran passer bring his lighthearted energy to the team that has a lot of making up to do after last year’s struggles.
While Winston is one of the more valuable backup quarterbacks in the NFL, due to his experience in the league, he brings a lot of value in the locker room as well. For a Giants team that didn’t have much stability at the quarterback position one season ago, they seem to have a better situation for the 2025 NFL season.

Winston isn’t expected to start, but he was brought on with a two-year deal. Currently, he’s the second quarterback on the depth chart, behind Russell Wilson. If all goes as planned, Wilson will run the offense as the starter in 2025, while the Giants are expected to get Jaxson Dart in the mix after his rookie season.

Not only will Winston offer a helping hand if Wilson goes down in 2025, but he’ll be around to mentor Dart when the young passer could be taking over as the QB1 next year.

These days, Winston is playing a much different role compared to when he entered the league. In 2015, Winston left Florida State as the top prospect in the NFL Draft. He was selected first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was an immediate starter during his rookie season.
Winston would play for the Buccaneers for five seasons before joining the New Orleans Saints. He would serve as a backup for the Saints for four straight seasons. In 2024, Winston joined the Cleveland Browns. He was expected to be the backup throughout the year, but injuries allowed him to start seven games.
At this point in his career, Winston has thrown for 24,225 yards and 154 touchdowns. He also has 323 carries for 1,297 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns under his belt.
