Owner Leaves Door Open Overnight—Security Cam Shows Cat Lived It Up

A TikTok video showing a house cat’s unauthorized overnight adventure—after her owner accidentally left a door open—has gained viral attention, with viewers sharing their delight at the feline’s apparent night of freedom.

The short clip, posted by the cat’s owner @aboldnewhue_ on September 5, was made up of home security footage. It shows the cat roaming outdoors from around midnight until 7:30 a.m., after her owner’s husband inadvertently left a door ajar.

What followed was hours of late-night exploring, complete with a run-in with an opossum, before the cat eventually returned indoors—only to be found resting inside a dresser drawer the next morning.

“We (my husband) accidentally left the door ajar, and we woke up in the morning to find out our indoor cat just had the night of her life,” the owner wrote in overlaid text on the video.

The caption added: “And this morning we found her closed in our dresser drawer from her own doing, just chilling.”

The short video, shot in black-and-white night vision, shows the cat confidently pacing around a patio before venturing out into the yard. The footage captures multiple moments of the feline appearing and reappearing over several hours, walking with purpose before disappearing off-screen and eventually returning.

At one point during the night, an opossum enters the frame—an encounter that did little to slow down the feline’s apparent enjoyment.

TikTok users were quick to react to the unexpected footage, with many amused by the cat’s calm and independent demeanor. The post quickly gained attention on the platform, drawing laughter from viewers charmed by the pet’s adventurous spirit and unfazed attitude.

Several commented on the cat’s loyalty, pointing out that she had decided to solely roam around her home and return indoors after her night of fun.

“She had the entire world to explore and stayed right there,” one viewer posted.

“You KNOW she’s an indoor cat [because] she literally had no idea where to go,” another added. “Just roaming the yard.”
