Knicks’ Ben Simmons Rumors Receive Shocking Update
The New York Knicks have been quite recently during the NBA offseason. However, there has been an occasional rumor connected to former No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons.
As the Knicks transition into a new system under head coach Mike Brown, the team’s bench depth will become more important. New York would like to add another player or two before the start of the 2025-26 season.
Simmons has been talked about a lot as a potential option. He has yet to sign with a team and remains a possible option for the Knicks.

That being said, a new report has come out regarding New York’s interest in Simmons.

According to longtime NBA insider Marc Stein, the Knicks did indeed make a one-year offer to Simmons. However, he rejected that offer.
“The Knicks, league sources said, indeed offered a one-year contract to Ben Simmons that the former All-Star passed on,” Stein wrote. “New York is limited to minimum contract offers as training camps draw near and Simmons entered the summer hopeful of securing a contract above the minimum after he split last season between the Nets and Clippers.”
It’s still possible that Simmons and New York could revisit a contract. Should he not land a better deal with another team, would he sign with the Knicks rather than not playing at all?
Sam Amico of HoopsWire has shared a quote from an NBA executive who believes that Simmons’ career might have come to an end.
“I think his NBA career is over,” the executive told Amico. “That’s not meant to disparage Ben. I think he can still play and probably help someone. But there are just too many things working against him right now. I know we would not have an interest in signing him.”

Last season, Simmons played for both the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers. He played in 51 total games and made 24 starts, averaging five points, 5.6 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 0.7 steals per game.
Obviously, the former No. 1 overall pick has not lived up to the hype. He has been a major disappointment. If his career is over, he’ll go down as a major draft bust.
At this point, it doesn’t sound like Simmons will be joining the Knicks. The team has shown interest, but his decision to decline the offer might end that option.
