Chicago Sky Could Trade Angel Reese This Offseason: Report
Things have seemingly gotten volatile between the Chicago Sky and star forward Angel Reese.
The team held Reese out of the first half against the Las Vegas Aces earlier this week for making comments detrimental to the team, stemming from an interview Reese did with the Chicago Tribune, in which she essentially threw head coach Tyler Marsh and some of her teammates under the bus for the team’s struggles this season.
“I’m not settling for the same [expletive] we did this year,” Reese stated. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best.
“And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason. So it’s going to be very, very important this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best because we can’t settle for what we have this year.”
Those comments didn’t sit right with most of her teammates, many of whom planned to confront Reese about what she said about them, according to Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports.

The 23-year-old did seem apologetic, however, about what happened following a win over the Connecticut Sun over a week ago.
“I really didn’t mean to intentionally put down my teammates because they’ve been through this with me throughout the whole year,” Reese said. “They busted their [expletive] just like I busted my [expletive], they’ve showed up for me through thick and thin.
“… So I would apologize to my teammates, which I already have about the article, how it was misconstrued with what was said and I just have to be better with my language.”
Things seem to still be rocky between Reese and the Sky, and according to a new report from Ashish Mathur of the Dallas Hoops Journal, that tension could lead to Reese potentially playing for a new team next season.
“Multiple WNBA teams will pursue a trade for Chicago Sky star Angel Reese this offseason, sources told Dallas Hoops Journal,” Mathur wrote. “Chicago could attempt to trade Reese this offseason, sources said.”
If Reese is truly available via trade, she will likely have a long list of potential suitors.
The LSU alum made solid strides in her development this season, averaging 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while playing 31.6 minutes per night. She also led the league in rebounds for the second straight season.
