Michigan man allegedly followed his ex-girlfriend for miles, then shot man who was with her
SUMPTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (TCN) — A 22-year-old man allegedly followed his ex-girlfriend for miles before shooting another man.
On the evening of Sept. 7, the Sumpter Township Police Department responded to a report of a shooting and learned a 40-year-old man had been shot once in the chest and sustained a graze wound to the cheek. He was transported to a hospital, but authorities did not disclose his current condition.
Upon further investigation, police determined 22-year-old Dominic McBride allegedly “had contact” with his ex and another man before following them from the Emagine Theater in Canton. Authorities allege that McBride followed the two for around 18 miles to a home.
Police said McBride’s ex and the man she was with called the victim to “notify him of what was occurring.” The victim reportedly exited the residence and told McBride to leave. Allegedly, McBride retrieved a gun while in his vehicle and shot the victim, who was in his yard at the time.
McBride was taken into custody and arraigned on Sept. 10 on charges of assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and felony firearm. McBride is set to appear in court again on Sept. 24.
