Cincinnati Bengals Get Alarming Joe Burrow Update From Sports Doctor
Cincinnati Bengals fans were faced with arguably their worst-case scenario on Sunday.
Star quarterback Joe Burrow exited Sunday’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars after getting sacked by edge-rusher Arik Armstead with a little over nine minutes left in the second quarter.
Burrow stayed on the turf for a few moments before being helped to the locker room for further evaluation. Multiple reports revealed Burrow underwent an MRI in the back, and he was seen using a scooter to get around after.
While no specifics have been announced about Burrow’s status or how severe his injury is, the only official update came in the third quarter when he was ruled out for the rest of the game with a toe injury.

Until the Bengals divulge more details, fans are left to speculate as to what actually happened, but a few popular sports doctors weighed in with their opinions about Burrow’s prognosis.
“Joe Burrow just had an MRI while still in stadium (that’s not very common),” Jesse Morse, a sports medicine physician and CEO of Injury Expertz, wrote on X. “He’s using a scooter to move around. No good folks. He’s done for the day. Video when we have specifics.”
Conversely, Jeff Mueller, a doctor of physical therapy and injury expert for DD Fantasy Football, believes Burrow’s injury may not be as severe as some initially believed but could still sideline him for a number of weeks.
“He was able to push off while walking towards the locker room. I’m thinking Turf Toe > Midfoot injury on this one,” Mueller said.

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy was just diagnosed with a case of turf toe, and he’s projected to miss the next 2-5 weeks. If Burrow is facing a similar timeline, it’s possible he may miss key games against one or more of the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, and Green Bay Packers over the next four weeks.
Moderate cases of turf toe typically have a 4-6 week recovery timeline, while severe cases can sideline players for 6-12 weeks.
Conversely, minor midfoot injuries typically have a 2-4 week recovery window, while Lisfranc injuries can keep players out anywhere from 6-8 weeks for moderate cases and 6-12 months for severe ones.
More details on Burrow’s condition are expected Monday morning.
