Patriots Send Funny Jabs at Mike Vrabel for Reaction to Game-Changing TD
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
Mike Vrabel is a former player with a knack for connecting with his team and the Patriots made sure to find some fun with him Sunday.
Vrabel brought the energy when Antonio Gibson scored on a 90-yard kickoff return touchdown moments after the Miami Dolphins gashed New England with Malik Washington’s 76-yard touchdown. The Patriots head coach sprinted down the sideline as Gibson answered the call in an eventual 33-27 win, the team’s first in Miami since 2019.

Several Patriots saw Vrabel’s energy and made sure to jab at their head coach, who turned 50 during training camp after three Super Bowl titles as a player.
“If he was keeping up with me, I need to run faster,” Gibson joked with reporters, per New England Football Journal’s Kevin Stone.
“I just saw it on video and was like, ‘He’s slow as hell,'” Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs said, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels.
The Patriots did a better job shuffling their backfield across Gibson, Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. All three players made impacts in the game, especially when Stevenson’s 55-yard catch-and-run set up a Drake Maye rushing touchdown to take the lead in the second half.
New England moved to 1-1 after a home loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1. The Patriots start a two-game homestand in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
