Dolphins’ Mike McDaniel Insists He Isn’t Worried About His Job Security

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel doesn’t seem to be worried about his job security right now.

But he should be.

The Dolphins looked better in the one-score loss to the New England Patriots in comparison to Week 1’s disastrous performance. McDaniel went as far as saying he hasn’t even thought about his job security.

“I think if I worry about my job security, then I won’t be doing my job. … I’ve never felt entitled to this position and it’s very important time to spend all my waking hours worrying about exactly how to do my job,” McDaniel said, via ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques, during Sunday’s postgame news conference.

To say he hasn’t even thought about it is simply tone deaf.

According to Tankathon, the Dolphins would have the third overall pick if the season ended now. That doesn’t happen without coaches being fired.

McDaniel knows time is running out, and he needs to turn things around sooner rather than later whether or not he admits it publicly.

Miami’s schedule doesn’t get any easier as it’s a short turnaround against the Buffalo Bills on “Thursday Night Football.” McDaniel’s team has looked subpar and second-best in every facet of the game this season, and it’s more likely than not that the Dolphins will start the year 0-3.

In NFL history, only six teams have made the playoffs after starting the season with a record of 0-3. Given how the Dolphins are playing, there’s a snowball’s chance in Hell of them becoming the seventh team.
