Sixty Hungarian Schools to Launch Integrated AI Courses This Fall

Integrated artificial intelligence (AI) courses will start in sixty Hungarian schools in the first semester of the 2025–2026 school year, announced Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation, on Tuesday in Budapest. The minister added that thousands of students will be able to participate in the program, and the goal is to make AI education available to all vocational students starting in February.

Balázs Hankó emphasized that, according to the government’s plans, artificial intelligence would become part of the entire Hungarian education system, thereby strengthening the country’s competitiveness. Three vocational training institutions outside Hungary are among the first sixty schools.

To introduce the course, the government chose the Logiscool training system, which already teaches artificial intelligence in thirty countries. Anita Breuer, co-founder of Logiscool, emphasized that the goal of their platform is to develop critical and logical thinking, and the entire curriculum is based on AI-related knowledge.

Balázs Hankó said that sixty teachers have already been trained for the program, meaning most vocational training centers already have teachers with AI skills. The minister emphasized that AI education affects not only secondary schools but also higher education: the goal is for all students to acquire basic AI knowledge and expand their knowledge with specific applications in master’s programs.

László Palkovics, government commissioner for artificial intelligence, believes that AI does not replace employees, but supports task performance, and in cooperation with startups and Hungarian companies, teaching this technology ensures future competencies for students.

Marcell Eszterhai, president of the National Conference of Student Governments (HÖOK), welcomed the government’s decision, emphasizing that providing tools and opportunities is essential for student success, which can also be applied in the world of work.
