Dolphins Unheralded Rookie’s First TD Gives Fins Hope vs. Heavily Favored Bills
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
The Miami Dolphins look like they may have found an identity on offense.
That identity could soon start to revolve around rookie running back Ollie Gordon, who scored his first career touchdown in the opening moments of “Thursday Night Football” against the heavily favored Buffalo Bills.

Gordon’s 2-yard rushing touchdown capped off an opening drive for Miami that spanned 10 plays and took 6:29 off the clock. It was one of four carries Gordon had on the drive, with those four combining for 11 yards.
Gordon was a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the first two weeks of his NFL career were off to a slow start. He’d collected just three carries for 12 yards. In the receiving game, he had two catches for just four yards.
The Oklahoma State product doesn’t have blazing speed, but he runs hard and could be a focal point of Mike McDaniel’s offense if Miami can turn around its season. He’s also a valuable asset in the passing game, which is pivotal in McDaniel’s system.
It is evident that with his four carries on the first drive of the game, he is a big part of the gameplan, and it will be interesting to see how he is used throughout the remainder of the game.
