The way the information was presented sounded serious, despite not being season-ending. Now, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has offered a big update on Kraft’s knee injury.
Matt LaFleur on Tucker Kraft: “He was practicing & got hurt. … I don’t think it’ll be long-term. That’s a positive but he will not be out there today (for practice).”
LaFleur doesn’t believe IR will be necessary but uncertain about Kraft’s status for Sunday.

LaFleur was speaking to reporters about what transpired and echoed the sentiment from the initial reports.
“He was practicing & got hurt. … I don’t think it’ll be long-term. That’s a positive, but he will not be out there today (for practice),” LaFleur said to reporters.
LaFleur also indicated that he does not believe that Kraft will be placed on IR, but that his availability for Sunday’s game is in question.

The good news from the report, other than not being placed on IR, means that Kraft might return to action within three weeks. The Packers play the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, followed by the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals.
Green Bay likely does not need Kraft to be rushed back into action, especially against the Browns. On paper, the Packers are a far superior team and should walk away with the victory.
Kraft would be needed far more against the Cowboys and Bengals.
Kraft and Packers quarterback Jordan Love have begun to sync very well, leading to the tight end securing 140 yards and two touchdowns through two games. The majority of those yards were in a breakout game in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, as Kraft secured six receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown.
Still, the connection between the pair is evident. Knee injuries can be tricky and the Packers shouldn’t be attempting to get Kraft back immediately. However, he is clearly a favorite target for Love, or is becoming one.
It appears that Kraft might miss Week 3, but expect him to be back on the field in Week 4, or Week 5 at the latest.
