AI Powerhouse Genesys Brings Major Investment to Budapest

American technology company Genesys will launch a HUF 20 billion (cc. USD 55 million) investment in Budapest, marking the eighth U.S. investment in Hungary since President Donald Trump took office earlier this year, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced Tuesday in New York.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Szijjártó highlighted that Genesys plays a major global role in the use of artificial intelligence and cloud-based customer service technologies.

I believe it is hard to imagine a more modern or more highly skilled investment than this,”

Szijjártó said.

The Budapest-based investment will create 250 high-skilled jobs focused on AI research and development and the expansion of cloud IT services in Hungary, he added. FM Szijjártó emphasized that he uses every opportunity during his visits to the United States to encourage further American investment in Hungary.

He noted that U.S. companies form the third-largest investor community in Hungary, and their contributions have significantly supported the country’s economic performance in recent years.

Now, more than ever, we need American investments,” he said, pointing to a recently signed EU-U.S. trade agreement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, which he described as “highly detrimental from a European perspective.”

According to FM Szijjártó, the agreement imposes significant tariffs on European exports to the U.S., placing added pressure on the European economy.

“We are working to counter the negative effects of this flawed tariff deal by encouraging more American companies to invest in Hungary,” he said. “Since President Trump took office, seven U.S. firms have already announced investments in Hungary — and today, we are announcing the eighth.”
