After ten years, the WCF World Cat Show will once again be held in Budapest on September 27-28 at the Angyalföld Sports Center. Twenty-two countries will be represented at the event, and the public will be able to see over twenty-five cat breeds, the organizers revealed.
The main topic of the event is to highlight the difference between illegal and legal breeders, as well as to raise awareness of responsible animal husbandry. The program includes competitions, lectures, and children’s programs. Visitors can learn about different cat breeds at the stands, and breed preservation associations will provide them with useful information.

Péter Tóth, the main organizer of the international event, told MTI that a Ragdoll cat from Russia, which is currently in first place in the Best Cat competition, i.e., the cat that has earned the most points at this year’s cat shows, will also be presented in Budapest. Its French owners have also entered the runner-up in the points competition, a Canadian Sphynx, making this a truly special world exhibition.
He emphasized that
among the special breeds, the public will be able to see Toyger and Tonkinese cats, as well as Canadian and Don Sphynx cats.
He added that visitors will be able to see the Singaporean cat, known as the smallest breed in the world, but Burmese (also called “Sacred Cat of Burma”), and numerous forest cat breeds, such as Norwegian and Siberian cats, will also be coming to the competition. Among the dwarf cat breeds, the munchkin will be on display at the world exhibition. In addition to these, the Cornish Rex, Devon Rex, and Selkirk Rex cats, which are curly-haired breeds, as well as the Transylvanian breed, which is currently under consideration for acceptance, will also be presented to the public.
In addition to rare and lesser-known breeds, popular cats such as the Maine Coon, Bengal, and British Shorthair will also be present in large numbers in Budapest.
Péter Tóth noted that the world exhibition is the second most prestigious event in the cat world, surpassed only by the “cat Olympics.” According to plans, this event will be held for the first time in Hungary in 2027.
