New York Liberty Emerge as Possible Angel Reese Trade Destination
Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky are going to be a major situation to keep an eye on during the upcoming WNBA season. She made comments late in the season about potentially looking to leave the franchise if the team doesn’t make the moves she wants to see them make.
Obviously, those comments did not go over well with her teammates. There is a lot of drama surrounding Reese entering the offseason.
Could the Sky actually consider trading Reese? That is an option that has been talked about a lot in recent weeks.

While it would be a major surprise to see Chicago cut ties with the face of its franchise, the front office may have no choice. Reese is a good player, but she is speaking well beyond her years. She also doesn’t seem to be thrilled with playing for the Sky.
All of that being said, Lee Escobedo of Bleacher Report has taken a look at some possible trade destinations for Reese this offseason if Chicago does open up to the idea of trading her. One of those potential destinations was none other than the New York Liberty.
“Reese would bring star power to the league’s biggest market, and New York would get a succession plan for its veteran core,” Escobedo wrote. “Meanwhile, Sabally and two future picks would deliver both immediate value for Chicago and a chance to build toward the future with incoming draft capital.”
During the 2025 WNBA season with the Sky, Reese played in 30 games. She averaged 14.7 points per game to go along with 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks. In addition, Reese shot 45.8 percent from the floor.
Those numbers would make Reese an intriguing trade target for any team across the WNBA.

As for the Liberty specifically, Reese could join a team that’s ready to win right now. That would likely help rejuvenate her after back-to-back losing seasons. She could also be a piece that helps keep New York alive as a top-tier contender.
Expect to continue hearing rumors about Reese as the offseason continues drawing closer and gets underway. She will be a hot topic this offseason and the Liberty could be a team worth keeping a very close eye on.
