Clemson, Dabo Swinney Rocked by Bad News After Rough Start
Entering the 2025 college football season, Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers were widely expected to be one of the best teams in the nation. That has not been the case.
Much like Florida State last season, Clemson has completely fallen flat to begin the year.
In game one of the year, the Tigers were defeated by the LSU Tigers. They were able to bounce back with a tough home win over Troy, but fell to 1-2 on the season with a loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately, last week Clemson suffered the same fate and moved to 1-3 with a loss to Syracuse.

Nothing has gone right for Swinney and company this season. Sadly, more bad news has hit the program.
According to a report from Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, the Tigers have lost a commitment from 2026 four-star EDGE Dre Quinn. He has opened up his recruitment and has plenty of offers to choose from.
“BREAKING: Four-Star EDGE Dre Quinn has Decommitted from Clemson, he tells me for @rivals,” Fawcett wrote on X. “The 6’4 230 EDGE from Buford, GA had been Committed to the Tigers since June. He currently holds a total of 39 offers.”
This is a really tough loss for Swinney and the program. Quinn has elite potential, but he clearly has not been impressed with how the program has looked to kick off the 2025 season. Losing can impact a program in more ways than just the current season.
Quinn , who hails from Buford, Georgia, is currently the No. 35 ranked EDGE prospect in the 2026 class according to 247 Sports. He is also ranked as the No. 395 overall player in the nation.
Who are some of the teams interested in landing Quinn’s commitment? Just a few of the potential programs with offers on the table include the Texas Longhorns, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Florida State Seminoles.

Hopefully, Clemson is able to avoid suffering more losses from a recruiting perspective. No one can blame Quinn for changing his mind after seeing what he saw to begin the 2025 campaign.
Next up for the Swinney and the Tigers will be a matchup on the road against Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels this week.
