Hungarian Embassy in Washington Hosts Forum on Defense Industry Cooperation

Washington, D.C.

A forum was held at the Hungarian Embassy on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., with the participation of representatives from numerous American and Hungarian companies in the defense industry

The discussion, entitled “The Defense Industry in a New Era: Perspectives from Central Europe and the United States,” was organized by the Claremont Institute, a US-based political analysis center, and the Hungarian Oeconomus Economic Research Foundation.

As host of the event, Ambassador Szabolcs Takács highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the Hungarian diplomatic mission in Washington and the Claremont Institute.

The diplomat emphasized that Donald Trump’s presidency in the United States has given new impetus to Hungarian-American relations, with positive developments already visible in recent months.

He stated that Hungary shares the current U.S. administration’s “peace through strength” foreign policy approach, through which President Donald Trump is attempting to end conflicts in many parts of the world. The ambassador emphasized that peace in Ukraine is particularly important for Hungary and has become within reach with Donald Trump’s rise to power.

Szabolcs Takács also spoke about the United States’ integral role in Hungary’s defense modernization. Among the elements of this, he mentioned the NASAMS air defense systems and related AMRAAM missiles purchased from the United States and Norway, worth a total of $1.1 billion.
