Secret Service Responds to Viral Trump Threat Video
The Secret Service told Newsweek it takes all threats seriously as it responded to a video circulating on social media in which a man appeared to threaten U.S. President Donald Trump.
The video, shared to X by user @shaneyyricch, real name Shane Ginsburg, and which has been viewed more than 1.2 million times on the platform, showed the unidentified man saying “we already killed his friend, the next one is Donald Trump”.
“The U.S. Secret Service takes all threats related to our protectees seriously,” a spokesperson said. “As a matter of practice, the Secret Service does not comment on matters involving protective intelligence.”
Newsweek has contacted Ginsburg for comment through his company StreetPoller. Newsweek was unable to identify the man in the video.
It comes amid growing concern in the aftermath of the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk about the rise in political violence in the U.S.
“Maybe I should have called the police in the moment,” Ginsburg wrote on X in a subsequent post.
“I was so shocked and confused that something like this could happen in the country I call home. America. The land of the free. Remember the only reason it was Charlie [Kirk] that got murdered and not any of us is because he was more influential. I’ll die for my country. But first I’ll be getting security.”
The video, embedded below, contains strong language that some viewers may find offensive.
