Tyler Reddick’s Playoff Hopes Suffer Blow After Pit Stop Blunder
NASCAR driver Tyler Reddick was dealt a massive setback in his Cup Series title hopes after he suffered from a loose tire, which forced him to come in for an extra pitstop.
Reddick was comfortably running in the top 10, ready to secure a good haul of points, but after he came in to tighten up his tires, he dropped all the way down to 27th place.
Entering the weekend, the No. 45 car was 11th in the playoff standings, 23 points under the cut line.
He managed to salvage a result somewhat, finishing in seventh place, but he missed out on a significant number of stage points, and after Sunday’s race, he ended up 24 points under the cutline.
If Reddick wants to stay alive in the playoff hunt, he will likely need a win in Charlotte.
“It was a tough day. I really thought our Beast Toyota Camry was really fast,” Reddick said after Kansas.
“We just had struggles on pit road. That’s part of racing. It’s tough. Yeah, obviously there’s only one thing we can do at Charlotte, and that’s what we’ll be focused on.”
Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course is up next for Reddick, and he is in a position where he needs a massive result.
Reddick’s Family Emergency
After the race, it was revealed that Reddick’s son, Rookie George, is in the cardiovascular ICU at Levine Children’s Hospital in North Carolina.
Rookie, born just months ago in May, is suffering from a heart condition. Alexa DeLeon Reddick, Tyler’s wife, provided an update regarding their son’s condition.
“After a run around for months with the pediatrician’s office, I knew what was going on was something bigger. Always trust your mom’s gut. Our sweet Rookie was showing signs of heart failure that were being missed,” Alexa posted on Instagram.
“Please, please pray for this sweet guy that God heals his heart. With God, Rookie, and his amazing doctors here at Levine’s, I believe He can. We are in the cardiovascular ICU while we get some answers and work on improving heart function. I usually don’t share our personal lives, but I’m hoping you take the time to pray for him today.”
