Man arrested after missing woman found dead in attic
VALLEJO, Calif. (TCN) — Police recently arrested a man on suspicion of killing a 28-year-old missing woman whose remains were found in an attic.
According to the Vallejo Police Department, on Sept. 28, Renia Lewis was reported missing, and officers responded to a home but were unable to find her. The following day, officials issued an Ebony Alert for Lewis.
Detectives’ investigation led them to a residence on 14th Street on Sept. 30, where they discovered a “concealed entry into the attic.” Inside, police located the suspected remains of Lewis.
Upon further investigation, authorities identified 41-year-old Douglas Shaw as the primary suspect in Lewis’ death and arrested him. Shaw reportedly admitted to killing the victim and was booked into the Solano County Jail on a charge of murder.
Chief Jason Ta called the suspect’s alleged crime a “heartbreaking, senseless act of violence that has no place in our community,” adding, “I am proud of our officers and detectives for making an arrest and solving this case. Above all, our thoughts are with the decedent’s family during this incredibly difficult time.”
