Released WWE Superstar Makes Shocking Return to AEW Dynamite
A recently released WWE star made his surprising return to AEW on Wednesday’s episode of “Dynamite.” Kenny Omega’s triumphant return to AEW TV was spoiled when Andrade El Idolo attacked “The Best Bout Machine” during his in-ring promo. El Idolo seemingly aligned with the Don Callis Family at the end of the segment.
El Idolo, known simply as Andrade during his WWE run, was released by the company despite being paired with Rey Fenix to potentially go on a run with the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Reports claimed that a backstage incident led to El Idolo being sent home. It was then said that the Mexican star couldn’t be reached, and that’s when WWE made the decision to cut ties with him.

Andrade El Idolo’s First AEW Run
El Idolo made his first appearance for AEW in 2021 after being granted his release from WWE to end his first run with the company. He was accompanied by Jose the Assistant, who served as his manager. El Idolo helped bring the La Faccion Ingobernable group to AEW and introduced Rush to the promotion in 2022.
The final match of El Idolo’s first run with AEW took place at “Worlds End 2023,” where he lost to Miro. El Idolo’s contract expired, and he opted to join WWE again. At the time, he was married to top WWE star Charlotte Flair. The two divorced in 2024, and many suspected that El Idolo would eventually take his talents somewhere else.
Prior to his return on “Dynamite,” many speculated whether or not El Idolo would return to AEW. Dave Meltzer of “Wrestling Observer Radio” reported that El Idolo didn’t leave AEW on bad terms, and that much is evident by how quickly the promotion brought him back into the fold.
Time will tell what’s in store for the newfound rivalry between El Idolo and Omega.
