Cowboys’ Offensive Line Dealt Major Blow Ahead of Jets Game

Sitting at 1-2-1 on the season, the Dallas Cowboys head into their Week 5 game against the New York Jets desperately needing a victory to keep pace in the NFC East. But if they are going to do that, they will need to overcome significant injuries plaguing their offensive line that will result in the vast majority of the starting offensive linemen for Dallas missing Sunday’s game.

The Dallas offense has been firing on all cylinders thus far, ranking first in the NFL in total yards per game through the first four games of the season. And much of that success has been due to the impressive play of the offensive line, who have both been able to keep Dak Prescott clean and provide holes in the running game for Javonte Williams and company.

Unfortunately, the offensive line that has done well in the first four weeks of the season is set to look far different in Week 5, which Cowboys fans learned in the team’s injury report released on Friday.

Several key offensive weapons, including wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin, were ruled out for Sunday’s game due to injuries. And additionally, starting right guard Tyler Booker and starting left tackle Tyler Guyton have also been ruled out, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

This raises a potential scenario where four of the five starting offensive lineman coming into the season may be unable to play against the Jets, as starting center Cooper Beebe remains on injured reserve and starting left guard Tyler Smith is questionable to play due to a knee injury.

Despite how well the offensive line has played to this point, one would assume that there comes a point that the injuries piling up to key starters begin to play a significant factor. For the Cowboys, this may very well be the point where we see some regression from all the backups being thrust into starting roles.

Whether the offensive line is a problem or not, Cowboys fans are certainly hoping that Dak Prescott can again rise to the occasion and perform as well as he has thus far.

Early on in the 2025 season, the Cowboys’ defense has done Prescott and company no favors, allowing a league-high 420.5 yards per game through four weeks. So a good game from Prescott may be required to come away with a Week 5 win.
