Giants Star WR’s Injury Recovery Plans Revealed

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered a torn ACL last week in the 21-18 win against the Los Angeles Chargers. The second-year player went to plant on the MetLife Stadium to go make a catch, but his knee buckled.

He was on the ground for a few minutes, before being carted off with a torn ACL.

On Saturday night, it was announced that Nabers would have surgery next week for the torn ACL and a torn meniscus. With the surgery, that will also allow a partially torn labrum and a turf toe injury to heal.

Nabers has quickly developed into one of the best receivers in the NFL, as he had a sensational rookie season last year. He finished with 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. He was off to a fast start again, as he had 18 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns.

His injury put a damper on a big day for the Giants franchise, as quarterback Jaxson Dart got a win in his first career start as the quarterback in New York.

Russell Wilson started the first three games of the season, but he was benched headed into the game against the Chargers.

This time frame of the surgery gives Nabers the best chance to be back and available for the start of camp next season.

The Giants are still only 1-3 on the season, but there are some reasons to be optimistic for the future on the offensive side of the ball. Dart and fellow rookie running back Came Skattebo have both became fan favorites of the Giants fans, and could be the quarterback and running back duo of the future in New York.

Not having Nabers makes this season tougher for Dart, but this was going to be a tough season for the rookie regardless. Dart is going to take some lumps like every rookie quarterback does throughout the season. However, if he is able to build off last week’s game throughout the year, Nabers and the Giants may have finally found the quarterback the team has been looking for since Eli Manning’s prime.

The Giants will be in action on Sunday when they take on the New Orleans Saints from the Caesars Superdome.
