Dolphins Reported Asking Price for WR Jaylen Waddle Revealed

Although head coach Mike McDaniel has made it clear no Miami Dolphins players are available for trade as of right now, one prominent NFL insider says otherwise.

“Mike McDaniel on trade rumors: All rumors about Miami Dolphins players are baseless, currently,” Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reported on Friday morning.

Several key Dolphins players — running back De’Von Achane, receiver Jaylen Waddle, linebacker Bradley Chubb, pass-rusher Jaelan Phillips — have been rumored to be on the trade block, and with the team sitting at 1-5 and likely out of playoff contention with another one or two losses, it would make sense for Miami to shop some of its top assets.

While some remain skeptical young, key pieces like Achane and Waddle will actually be moved, notable NFL insider Benjamin Allbright of KOA Colorado recently divulged what it could possibly take to pry Waddle away from the Dolphins during an appearance on the “All In” podcast with Art Stapleton.

“Keep your eye on Jaylen Waddle,” Allbright said. “The Dolphins weren’t really willing to engage up until a couple of days ago, and now they’re willing to engage [in trade talks].

“… I think a third-rounder is what I heard [they’re asking for him]. I don’t have exact details on that, and I don’t want to overextend myself, but speculatively, they were looking for a third to get that done.”

Waddle may have caused some Dolphins fans to have a minor freak-out on Thursday when a social media post of his prompted some to speculate he was hinting he wants to be traded elsewhere.

The Buffalo Bills and New York Giants, who are looking for a replacement for Malik Nabers as he recovers from a season-ending ACL injury, are believed to be the frontrunners if Miami does decide to move Waddle.

Just 26, Waddle signed a three-year, $84.75 million contract extension just last year. He started his NFL career with three straight seasons of 70 or more catches and 1,000 or more yards.
