Viktor Orbán met with Aleksandar Vučić, the President of the Republic of Serbia, in his office on Monday.
During their talks, Viktor Orbán and Aleksandar Vučić also discussed Hungarian-Serbian economic relations and energy and supply security issues between the two countries.
After the meeting, Vučić wrote on his social media page: “Thank you for your hospitality, my dear friend Viktor Orbán, and above all for your loyalty and friendship towards Serbia.”
When asked by a journalist after the meeting what his message to the freedom-loving Hungarians was, he replied that he loved the Hungarians and that the Serbs also loved the Hungarians and admired their love of freedom and peace.
Aleksandar Vučić recalled that the Hungarians had stood by them in difficult times, and I will always stand by your side, because we are a very loyal people.”
The relationship between the two countries have been cordial recently with the construction of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line, strategic partnership, and other major joint projects such as the building of a shared pipeline in order to secure energy supply. Hungary has also supported Serbia’s accession to the EU, and constantly advocates for the peace and stability of the Balkans.

On social media, Aleksandar Vučić reported on his conversation with the Hungarian Prime Minister and that they had discussed the strategic positioning of the two countries and ensuring long-term stability in the energy and economic sectors.

“Our relations with Hungary and our good friend Viktor Orbán are excellent, but we would like to strengthen them even further through concrete discussions in the areas of energy, infrastructure, and joint projects,”

There are only people who are not committed and wise enough to see these solutions. We will work and seek solutions,” said the Serbian President, adding that Serbia and Hungary will continue to strengthen their friendship based on trust, mutual respect, and a shared vision of stability and progress.
